Patriots top sales chart

So far this season the New England Patriots have sold more merchandise in Canada than any other NFL team.

The Steelers, Packers, Raiders and Bills round out the top-five in Canada.

Earlier this season the East coast New England Patriots dominated Sun Media’s ‘Favourite NFL Team’ polls in Toronto and Ottawa (12.41% of respondents to the Ottawa Sun poll chose the Patriots as their favourite team – more than any other team – in Toronto the Patriots were chosen by 9.76% of respondents, trailing only the Pittsburgh Steelers).

In the United States, the Super Bowl champion New York Giants lead the way in overall team merchandise sales (followed by the Steelers, Cowboys, Broncos and 49ers).

One of the most interesting trends in NFL merchandise this season is the rise of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

NFLshop.com has sold more Griffin III No. 10 jerseys than any other player’s in a single season since the NFL started keeping track six years ago, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.com.

As Rovell notes, Griffin’s rise is even more impressive is that the NFL’s fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31, meaning that he has the league’s highest-selling jersey with 3½ months to spare.

Griffin is followed by Broncos QB Peyton Manning and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers on the NFL’s best-selling jersey list through the month of November, 2012. Overall, QBs make up seven of the top spots.
