Matt Dean Pettit has spent a lifetime testing recipes, so he knows how to spot a winning combination. Matt has created 5 recipes found below that you can try at your very own Super Bowl party. Be sure to click through to see Matt in action!
“The wonderful thing about NFL football, particularly the Super Bowl, is the culture of friends and food it inspires,” said Pettit, Chef and Founder of Rock Lobster Restaurants in Toronto. “Homegating is what happens when you combine these ingredients – and you don’t have to be a hardcore fan to enjoy the experience.”
As passionate about football as he is about food, the renowned chef took inspiration from this year’s competitors – the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos – when designing five special Homegating recipes to help Canadians celebrate Super Sunday.
“BBQ is the name of the game in Carolina, so integrating meat and marinades, like my football ham with sweet smoky rub and drumsticks with glaze was a natural,” said Pettit, who also founded Matty’s Seafood Retail Brands. “The Super Bowl Maple Taffy recipe is inspired by the Broncos. With all of that fresh snow, the Rockies would be a great place to make this dish.”
According to Pettit the key to Homegating, and to a successful Super Bowl party, is food that is fun and could be made indoors or out.
“In these five recipes you’ll find classics like chicken wings, but also fun dishes like my football bread bowl, complete with dip and laces,” added Pettit. “My dream, besides one day seeing the Bills in the Super Bowl, is for the millions of Canadians tuning in on Sunday – from hardcore fans to those who just like a party – to see how food can elevate your NFL experience.”
