Hundreds of Canadian Teachers Commit to Getting Active with NFL PLAY 60

NFL PLAY 60 provides assistance to teachers in getting kids active for 60 minutes every day through the distribution of NFL FLAG Football Kits.

On December 24, 2015, the National Football League (NFL) announced the arrival of their popular youth health and fitness campaign – NFL PLAY 60 – in Canada. The league teamed with hundreds of schools in an effort to encourage students to live an active, healthy lifestyle and received an overwhelmingly positive response from teachers coast-to-coast.

Canadian teachers were invited to sign up their school to participate in the program, making a commitment to get their students active for a minimum of 60 minutes per day. Schools that registered are provided with resources to help students get moving – from a complimentary NFL FLAG Football Kit to NFL PLAY 60 resources and guides[1].

Within eight days, hundreds of teachers registered to be a part of the program. Schools in provinces across the country were represented, from British Columbia to eastern Canada. The strong response will give students nationwide a new opportunity to get active every day.

“We’re thrilled to be able to bring NFL PLAY 60 to Canada this year, through the distribution of our NFL FLAG Football Kits,” stated Tammy Johnson, Marketing & Events, National Football League. “At the NFL, we understand the role physical activity plays in leading a healthy life, and this starts with our youngest fans. We’re excited to see the positive response from Canadian teachers and look forward to partnering with schools in this movement.”

Those interested in finding out more about the program can visit and sign up to receive communications. A Teacher Resource Guide and lesson plans are available on the website for all teachers to assist with incorporating physical activity into the classroom.

NFL Canada is the Canadian arm of the National Football League, formed in 1997 as a division of NFL International to handle league business interests in Canada. The chapter was formed through the League’s goal to support football wherever it is played. Canadians enjoy a rich history of watching and playing professional football.
